We’ll support you every step of the way — from helping you get your walk started to sharing fundraising tips and ideas. We also provide fundraising materials to help you personalise your walk and make your event even more impactful.

Your Walk of Hope can look exactly how you want it – whether that is your immediate family taking a walk to a special place, getting your colleagues together at lunch or rallying your whole community and taking over a local park. Fancy a solo challenge? Why not take on a few miles each day in September in honour of a loved one.
Register now to hold your own Walk of Hope and you’ll get:

One in three people in the UK knows someone affected by a brain tumour. This disease is indiscriminate and can affect anyone at any age. What’s more, brain tumours continue to kill more adults and children under the age of 40 than any other cancer yet, to date, just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease since records began in 2002.
You can help us change the story. By taking part in Walk of Hope, you will support our influential campaigning to call on governments and larger cancer charities to invest more in research into brain tumours. The money you raise will also help fund vital research at our Centres of Excellence where scientists are striving to uncover new knowledge and make breakthroughs to improve treatments and, ultimately, find a cure.

Raise £137 and you could support a morning of experiments that provide the foundations to start clinical trials for paediatric high-grade gliomas

Raise £500 and you could supply the essential lab materials that make a day of vital brain tumour research possible

Raise £1,000 and you could fund a week of gene sequencing to identify DNA changes that may guide future treatments

Raise £2,740 and you could fund a day of research, sustaining long-term and potentially life-saving research at one of our Research Centres of Excellence, offering new hope to the thousands diagnosed and living with this devastating disease.

Is there a registration fee?
There is no registration fee to host your own Walk of Hope
What support will Brain Tumour Research provide?
Our digital guide is full of information to help you plan your event and your local Community Fundraiser is on hand to help with any questions!
Before I register, can I talk to someone about organising a walk?
Yes, your local Community Fundraiser would be delighted to speak to you about any ideas you have for your own Walk of Hope.
Do I need a license or insurance?
If you are holding a solo walk or small group walk with family and friends in a public area such as a park or public footpaths, you’re unlikely to need to consider insurance or licenses. If you are holding a large-scale walk and inviting more people to join you, it is important to consider if these are necessary for your event.
Although there is no legal requirement to purchase insurance for a community event such as a large group walk, you might want to think about public liability insurance in case anything goes wrong.
If you are organising a large event, we recommend checking with your local council if you require any special permissions or licenses required. If you are planning a walk which passes through any private land, you must also ensure that you have the landowner's permission to do this.
Does organising an event cost any money?
It is important to remember that large walks can incur costs such as licenses, insurance, printing and refreshments. To help raise as much as possible for Brain Tumour Research, we advise that you keep your costs as low as you can. You can also ask local businesses to sponsor your walk or to provide refreshments free of charge!
Will I receive a medal for organising my own Walk of Hope?
Yes, a medal will be sent to everyone who raises over £137. If you require more than one medal, please get in touch with your local Community Fundraiser
